A New Era For Rendezvous Cinema

Dear valued customers,

We have a few updates which we’d like to make you aware of which I hope you will all see as positive.

When we launched rendezvouscinema.com a few years back we wanted to ensure our website added legitimate value for the customer compared to buying our items on other marketplaces.

Our strategy for this was to list our items on rendezvouscinema.com 5% cheaper than other marketplaces, offer free domestic postage, we also ensure 100% of our items are for sale on our website and our plan was to reprice regularly.

Due to some restrictions with our 3rd party stock management system we just couldn’t achieve all of these things, we prioritised having slightly cheaper stock on rendezvouscinema.com and repricing would have to wait, that wait is now over!

The way forward!

Our mission is still the same, getting there now requires some changes to be made, let me run through these for you, step-by-step.

1. The eagle eyed few may have noticed that large rolled items are more expensive on rendezvouscinema.com compared to ebay, however, buying on rendezvouscinema.com allows free domestic postage whereas ebay charges £2.55 for the same service. Quite simply we added some cost to our large rolled items to allow free postage, we need to equalize this so ebay and rendezvouscinema.com operate at the same prices going forward, this allows everything else that we need to do. This means we need to remove some of the free domestic postage offers.
   
   
2. On rendezvouscinema.com we’ve always been restricted in how to pitch our postage fees, for example we’ve had to use a 1 price fits all for all international orders with no additional fees for multiple item orders, this was hurting our already slim margins, we’ve now added additional IT systems to allow for the correct postage price depending on what poster format, country and how many items you have purchased. If you feel we have made a mistake or you have been overcharged please reach out so we can either correct our mistake or breakdown the costs so you have 100% transparency. On top of this, we now have an easy way to play with our postage fees, so when there is an annual increase from our suppliers, we can react. Likewise we can reduce prices or have free or discounted shipping as a one off offer.
   
   
3. Orders from EU countries, we are pleased to confirm that rendezvouscinema.com still uses the same courier which ensures all items will be shipped to the EU with no additional customs charges when you receive your item, there is a small surcharge as we need to send each item to a specific location within the UK to achieve this (a surcharge is built into your shipping price to cover this).
   
   
4. Improved discounts on rendezvouscinema.com. Our new standard discount structure is now available with voucher codes on our current discounts page. We have decided to add a 5% code which is meant to be used if you are buying 1 item, we have increased our buy 2-4 items and get 25% off to 30% off, likewise our buy 5 or more items now gets you 35% off compared to 30% previously. We have also added in FREE domestic postage if you spend £100 or more (after discount). Keep an eye on our discounts page and social media for new discounts.
   
   
5. Repricing. Some of our stock is now 4 years old and it sits on our shelves at the same price it was listed as, this has been a major frustration for us, we are delighted that we will now have the ability to reprice our stock as often as we want to, we do not want to race our prices down, however periodically we will be reducing our prices of some items meaning our prices remain competitive. We have a bottom price we can go to depending on the item, we need to make sure we make some money out of each sale, even if only pennies. 
   
   
6. New product lines. After some initial testing we have have decided to begin selling non-poster items, we are starting with DVD and Blu-ray, we feel there is still a demand for these items if we avoid the ‘mass market’ items and stick to what we feel our customer base might want, so watch this space, we’ve been buying and have around 2000 to get us started, we will also be starting other lines in time too, let us know what you’d love us to sell, we are open to ideas.
   
   
7. Space. Along with the above improvements we are thrilled to announce that we are currently building new premises which we hope to give us room to grow our poster stock to around 100,000 items and allow other lines to grow, this will future proof our business and allow for considerable growth, we will be moving in, in January 2025.

I hope you have found this update useful, it's been a year of discovery and these changes have been researched thoroughly ensuring that they are good value for us as a company and creating added value for our customers, we’ve been working on implementing the IT in the background over the last few months and cannot wait to launch these initiatives, we are only human and if you notice any errors and areas to improve upon please get in touch.
